I just love All In The Family
September 5, 2009
When this first aired in the 70's most everyone was shocked with what Archie would say. But as time went on you realized that Archie was more ignorant than racist. I loved the show even after Mike and Gloria left, and Edith died. It was just Archie and Edith's niece Stephanie, and the two of them were great two watch.

POSSIBLY ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER
June 13, 2009
The chemistry among the characters is unmatched. It was perfect. No matter how many times I watch the reruns, I am always in stitches and never get tired of them. Being a baby boomer myself, I can relate to that era in every way. My family was a lot like the Bunkers, always loud and yelling, however we were NOT bigoted nor were we ever racial against anybody. I sure wish that TV Land would play "All In The Family" more often. Sure I have the DVD's but many people don't and they would like to tune into it. Some of the funniest segments in my eyes were with, The Lorenzo Family, Maude... of course, Lionel Jefferson and that little old guy that Edith found roaming the streets from the retirement home (cannot remember his name). Ahhhh yes, every time I watch these shows, it brings back such good memories of a "time gone by". Carroll O'Connor you and the rest of your cast brought a lot of joy into many homes (and still do) and may you Sir, Rest in Peace. To Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers, thanks for the memories.

pretty good copy

i must admit that i liked this show even though it was a direct rip-off of the british show called "till death do us part" from the sixties. living in australia i found it interesting to see american shows come out years after the original british version & to find that not only were the characters & plots exactly copied by the american producers but in many cases the story lines were exactly the same almost word for word. it was funny to see the same characters & situations as the british version portrayed by americans. there were many american shows that did this & one that springs to mind was "man about the house that was copied verbatim & renamed "three's company".
one thing, being a copy it can hardly be called grounbreaking.

This Show was the BEST of it's time.

Groundbreaking TV. Waited with great anticipation for this show as a teenager. I had a very disfuntional family; yet a we all made time to watch this show. We were sharp Chicagan's and it hit a chord in our middle class, blue collar people of the time. It hit all the big issues. The main cast was spot on in almost every show. It challenged ones thinking, instead of being a lump on the couch.
Plus you laughed your a-- off. Thanks Norman Lear and Co.
P.S. you can be sharp and dsyfuntional I've done it.
