I've browsed quite a few reviews of this show on various web sites and I am amazed at the hatred that people pour forth on this show. Sure Bergeron's quips are mostly cheesy, and some of the videos can be repetitive. But they do a good job of pacing the videos to keep it interesting and the new gimmicks that Bergeron is using (putting stills of his head in the frame, using the freeze-frame device to step through videos, etc) are generally pretty good. All in all, this show is very entertaining, and I find it to be much better now with Bergeron than it ever was before.

There is one important thing to keep in mind though: they choose the lamest videos to win ON PURPOSE. I don't think anyone who has ever watched this show hasn't thought "why do the worst and least funny videos always win?!?". Well there is a REASON, and it makes alot of sense from the persepective of the producers of the show:

If they really did pick the funniest videos to win, then people would be discouraged from sending their videos in because they'd think "this video probably isn't funny enough to win." But if they pick the lamest videos, just about anybody with a remotely funny video will send it in, thinking "if that lame video won, then my video has a chance too".

So it's quite simple: if they pick lame videos to win, they will ensure that lots of videos keep pouring in. If they really picked the best videos to win, then fewer and fewer people would send videos in the competition became stiffer and stiffer and the chance to win lower and lower.

By the way, it seems to me like the best way to win the money is to send in the most marginally funny video you can; there is a certain pattern to it - just ask "if my video wins, will it encourage other people to send their videos in because they think that they're funnier?" Otherwise, don't bother to send your video in - if it's too funny, it won't win!

All in all, a very entertaining show, requiring no cerebreal activity whatsoever to enjoy. Light and funny fluff that is always good for a laugh.
