    A guilty pleasure

    January 7, 2008
I watched the original series as a kid. (I'm 27) And I am so glad it is back. I'm not a wrestling fan but, Hulk Hogan is a pretty good announcer for the show and it is also nice that they didn't change the format too much. If you liked the original, then this is a must see.

    The biggest problem...

    February 4, 2008
    ...seems to be the events?

Where are the ones like Atlasphere and Breakthrough and Conquer?

    A lot of the events don't seem very, I don't know, Gladiator-like.

I'm talking about those events like Assault, and the one where they run across the bridge dodging medicine balls.

While it takes athleticism on the part of the contestant, does it matter if there's a 5'3", 110 lbs kid behind the tennis ball gun, or a guy my size at 5'11", 174 lbs, swinging those medicine balls across the chasm?

Does it have to be these giant men and women doing that?

I'd like to see more physicality in the games.

There are also far too many commercials it seems and the new Eliminator almost always comes down to the treadmill at the end.

Remember, in the original show, I believe that was at the beginning.

I for one am tired of watching people fall up a hill 20 times a show.

And where are the Gladiators in that event? The old one had the paper you could break through and maybe there was a Gladiator waiting on the other side, maybe there wasn't!

As for the Gladiators themselves, they just seem to be there. They've got their custom poses, but it seems only Wolf has a personality. I felt like I "knew" Zap and Laser and Ice and Nitro back in the day.

It's not a bad show. It's fun reliving those memories, but some better events, and a little more showcasing of the Gladiators would go a long way in keeping the popularity, as would a slight tweaking of the Eliminator.

And let's place bets on how long it takes someone to either hit their head jumping into the water or jump right on the fire.

    I like the new version

    January 7, 2008
I liked the originals that I watched when I was a kid and I like the new series on now. The events are great and it is fun to watch the competition. Even my 3 and 4 year old daughters like the new show. The show is fast paced and it is on at a perfect time with the writers strike going on. I have been looking forward to it coming back on since they started advertising and as for myself I was not disappointed.

    June 27, 2007
It's finally back on ESPN Classic!!!! I loved watching the show as a child, and I still love it now! It's especially fun watching the audience members in the 1980s-90s. So funny!
