Big Love, Big Love, Where da Heck are ya Big Love?
February 19, 2007
Great show. It's probably one of the few shows I have really been able to get into that very rarely relies on action to drive the plot and keep you inticed. This show definitely seems to rely far more heavily on the pschological aspects of the characters and the general intrigue of this unorthodox marriage of a man and three women.
As a man, after I am able to get past the "how lucky is this guy, (*wink**wink**nudge**nudge*)" stuff, I really am interested at how well the show is able to capture the relationships between Husband and wife, sort of kalidescoped together from the various interactions with his various wives. On top of that, the fact that there are multiple women in this man's life, and it is accepted and not a taboo (at least within their family structure), it really seems to expose these primal aspects of the relationship between men and women in general.
These ideas are profound and in many ways ring true: that he definitely is attracted to multiple women, and even capable of truely loving multiple women if they will allow, while at the same time always coming back to his one true love, the one who made him the man he is, and forever took the throne in his heart, his first wife. Also, by engaging in this vauge sense of monogamy with his first wife, it almost creates this kind of taboo within the relative frame work of polygamy - picking a favorite. All the while these three women bonding with one another as sisters, sharing one man, and fighting the fire of jealousy, while supporting a joint-extended family structure, really highlights the crucial nature of being a stay-at-home mom. When done right, it is probably one of the toughest jobs around.
Compelling stuff, all within the confines of a relatively normal suburban lifestyle. Just a little sexier ;)

When will Big Love return?
August 23, 2007
I love Big Love and hate to see the season come to a close! Does anyone know when the next season will begin??
I've been hooked since season #1. The characters are all so brilliantly written...just when I can't stand Nicki anymore, she shows a softer side and completely throws me off.
It's always funny to tell others (that don't have HBO) that my favorite show is about polygomists. They just don't know what a great show they are missing!

Incredibe, fresh

Leave it to HBO to explore some of the darkers corners of Christian extremism. How otherwise righteous honest people will stoop t the lowest acts to protect temselves and there intrests, Or simply to get ahead. Bill Paxton's portrayal of patriarch Bill is the best work he's done over his incredible carreer. the three wves are all genuine, but Chloe Savigney eclipses the other two being by far the mst "human" of them. She is real with al of the foibles we all share.
As for the writing it doesnt get any better. Just when we were truly convinced Roman was the Devil incarnate, we find out he's a mere piker, a rich piker, but a piker nonetheless with at least the semblance of some redeeming qualities. The same can't be said for the Greens. The female to male transexual puts them way over the top for originality on tv.
