The first teaser for the final season of "Lost" is live ... and of absolutely no help in telling us anything about the new season.
Now, I get that a 16-second promo with the sole intent of reminding viewers that the show is returning in a few months is not going to give away the farm. And given the game-changing event that occurred in last season's finale, the show certainly doesn't want to tip its hand as to how the new season kicks off.
But seriously, ABC, throw us a bone here. Give us something, anything -- heck, I'd settle for a slightly more specific return date. I already know it's returning in 2010; could we maybe get a month attached to that?
Alas, no. All we get is a montage of characters' faces and a quick glimpse of a couple of important events: the plane breaking up, the turning of the fail-safe key in the hatch -- and ABC Promo Guy intoning that "it's the beginning of the end," followed by Jack talking about destiny.
Seeing this lame teaser doesn't diminish my excitement for the final season of "Lost." I'm still counting down the days, however many there may be, until its return. But it doesn't make me any more excited, either -- and that's what promos are supposed to do.
