The cast of "Project Runway"
Lifetime

The new season of "Project Runway" on Lifetime is under way, with avant-garde alien princess Ari Fish the first designer to be auf'd after she made a geometric silver diaper as her runway-ready gown in the premiere episode. Who will impress Michael Kors, Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia, and who will earn quizzical looks from Tim Gunn? See our predictions:

Althea Harper
Stats: 24-year-old recent grad/fashion designer from Dayton, OH who interned with designers like Vivienne Westwood.
First Impression: Her first gown was a lovely silver piece, but it didn't stand out. However, she seemed proud of the fact that a previous boss had told her "she was the best," so she's got the ego for designing.
Odds of Winning: On paper, she's got the background to beat. 8 to 1.

Carol Hannah Whitfield
Stats: 24-year-old freelance designer from Charleston, SC
First Impression: She had once sold dresses at Gordana's shop, and she says that people underestimate her because she's blonde.
Odds of Winning: Seems a little too nice and one-dimensional. 40 to 1.

Get to know the Season 6 "Project Runway" designers:

Christopher Straub
Stats: 30-year-old visual merchandiser from Shakopee, MN
First Impression: While his "Some day you'll be amazing" motto is a bit cheesy, he did win the first challenge with a design that Michael Kors called "cute and edgy."
Odds of Winning: He won the first challenge, which bodes well. 3 to 1.

Epperson
Stats: 50-year-old window designer from New York, NY
First Impression: We didn't learn much about his fashion sense, but we know he's got kids as old as most of his competitors, so he's been around the industry for a while.
Odds of Winning: Hopefully he can hang with the young guns. 25 to 1.

Gordana Gehlhausen
Stats: 45-year-old fashion designer/shop own from Charleston, SC
First Impression: She's confident and though self-trained, seems like she knows her stuff, but her first gown placed her in the middle.
Odds of Winning: She's tough and seems like a fighter. 15 to 1.

Irina Shabayeva
Stats: 27-year-old fashion designer from New York, NY
First Impression: She barely made an impression in the first episode, and got hardly any screen time.
Odds of Winning: If she doesn't stand out, she's gone. 35 to 1.

Johnny Sakalis
Stats: 30-year-old fashion designer from West Hollywood, CA
First Impression: He had an emotional breakdown during the first episode, but his low-backed gown was in the top three.
Odds of Winning: If he doesn't freak out, he'll do well. 7 to 1.

Logan Neitzel
Stats: 26-year-old freelance fashion designer from Seattle, WA
First Impression: His first dress was very blah, and he didn't do anything else to grab our attention week one.
Odds of Winning: Seems a bit boring and safe. 20 to 1.

Louise Black
Stats: 32-year-old fashion/accessory designer from Dallas, TX
First Impression: She's a little bit funky, likes vintage clothing and is inspired by classic Hollywood glamour.
Odds of Winning: A little off-the-beaten-track is a good thing. 12 to 1.

Malvin Vien
Stats: 24-year old from New York, NY
First Impression: He reminds us a lot of James-Paul from "The Fashion Show," and that guy made it to the finals.
Odds of Winning: He's a bit mild-mannered and really needs to do something with a wow factor. 30 to 1.

Mitchell Hall
Stats: 26-year-old creative director from Savannah, GA
First Impression: He may know what women want, but he still made a big misfire sending a model down the runway in a completely see-through gown.
Odds of Winning: If he can get drop the attitude, he might stick around, but that's a lot of work. 45 to 1.

Nicolas Putvinski
Stats: 27-year-old associate designer from New York, NY
First Impression: We expected someone who calls himself the Feather Prince to stand out more and really show us some wild-style. But his first gown was a snooze.
Odds of Winning: He's got the goods, but needs to take some risks. 6 to 1.

Qristyl Frazier
Stats: 42-year-old from New York, NY
First Impression: We like that she designs for all shapes and sizes, so if she makes it to the "real women" challenge, she's got that one in the bag.
Odds of Winning: She needs to adjust to skinny models and materials that aren't awful. 42 to 1.

Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman
Stats: 31-year-old designer from Chicago, IL who originally studied neurosurgery in med school
First Impression: If he's got the hands of the neurosurgeon, we can only imagine how neat his stitching must be.
Odds of Winning: Sometimes it is all in the details. 5 to 1.

Shirin Askari
Stats: 24-year-old freelancer from Richardson, TX
First Impression: She specializes in clothes that have secret compartments or can function as more than one thing.
Odds of Winning: As long as her gimmick doesn't take her over, she'll do fine. 9 to 1.
