Someone should consider posting a notice in the backstage red room warning that "Dancing with the Stars" can be hazardous to your health. According to my count, there have been four serious injuries this season (see "Dancing with the Stars" photos), and we're only two weeks in!

Injury #1: Jeffrey Ross

During rehearsal "The Meanest Man in Comedy" got his eye poked out by professional dance partner Edyta Sliwinska. Although Ross suffered from a scratched cornea, he threw a patch over his injured eye and danced on. Unfortunately, the comedian didn't score extra points for bravery and was the first star of Season 7 to be eliminated.

Injury #2: Karina Smirnoff

Professional dancer (and Mario Lopez's former roommate) Karina Smirnoff twisted her ankle during a dress rehearsal before this season's big premiere. The wounded ankle didn't even slow the pro down, and she still competed that week with hot chef Rocco DiSpirito.

Injury #3: Misty May-Treanor

Apparently there's nothing like the fierce competition for a Mirrorball Trophy to hospitalize an Olympian. According to a report from Access Hollywood, Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor suffered an injury on Friday that may end Misty's dreams for Mirrorball glory. Fans should learn more on tonight's show, but this morning fellow competitor Brooke Burke told a local Los Angeles radio station that Misty tore her Achilles tendon and may be heading into surgery as early as this week.

Injury #4: Derek Hough

Fans will remember that Derek injured himself last season when he pulled a muscle in his neck, but that's nothing compared to the trauma that occurred this weekend. Access Hollywood got the scoop from Brooke's personal blog where she recounted exactly what went down. "Saturday, on the CBS stage, we were practicing as usual when Derek accidentally tripped over a box, while walking backwards. As he tried to break his fall, by jumping up, his foot caught a stage light which sent him further into the air. He landed on his back on the wooden dance floor and smashed the back of his head. He was disoriented, blacked out for a few seconds, and was flattened out in pain." After a quick trip to the hospital, Derek was released, and a statement to "Access Hollywood" reveals that the show will go on for front-runners Hough and Burke.

All of this bad luck makes me wonder if an ancient curse is inscribed on the bottom of the Mirrorball Trophy warning those who long for its glory to beware.
