Long before "American Idol," "The Voice," "The X Factor," "America's Got Talent," "Duets," "The Sing-Off," "The Glee Project," "Platinum Hit," "Nashville Star," or even "Star Search" and "The Gong Show," there was the Eurovision Song Contest, a talent competition more ridiculous, glitzy, and over-the-top than all of those shows combined. At last year's Eurovision in Dusseldorf , Jedward--aka John & Edward Grimes, the "double divas of Dublin" from Season 6 of "The X Factor U.K."--represented Ireland with an electropop ditty called "Lipstick," and placed eighth out of 43 countries. That wasn't a bad showing at all for what many haters had dismissed as just a reality-TV novelty act...but this Tuesday at the Eurovision 2012 semifinals in Baku, Jedward qualified to represent Ireland again at the upcoming Eurovision 2012 final on Saturday, May 26. And honestly, I think they have a REAL shot at winning this year.

‘X Factor’ Wondertwins Jedward Qualify For Eurovision Final!

Which finalist are the judges rooting for? [photo: Fox]Three seasons ago on "American Idol," it was "the guy-next-door versus the guyliner." This year, apparently there were a few layoffs in the Fox copywriting department, since the best slogan anyone could come up with for this week's Season 11 showdown was the somewhat insulting-to-both-contestants "the musical artist versus the big ol' voice." Whatever. But I suppose it was an appropriate summation of the massive contrast between this year's two "Idol" finalists, humble singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips and girl-wonder powerhouse Jessica Sanchez.Yes, not since Adam Lambert and Kris Allen in Season 8 had there been a final face-off as diverse as this one. Wednesday night's result will really come down to just a matter of personal taste, methinks. But I have a feeling that when it comes to personal taste, many more voters are going to be swayed by Phillip's final song.

Now we are in "American Idol's" big finale week, so for her last hurrah, Sarah is pulling out all the stops with a feast fit for an Idol. By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Mon, May 21, 2012 5:45 PM PDTEveryone on this side of the pond is all aflutter over the recent news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have joined the "X Factor USA" judging panel, but another "X Factor" pop queen is about to conquer America: Cher Lloyd, the fresh, fierce, and fearless finalist from Season 7 of "The X Factor U.K." (the same season that spawned One Direction), who's gearing up for the U.S. release of her irresistible first pop-blitz album, Sticks + Stones, on L.A. Reid's Epic Records.

Phillip Phillips & Jessica Sanchez [photo: Fox]From the moment that Phillip "P-Squared" Phillips walked into the "American Idol" audition room, I thought his Season 11 victory seemed preordained. (I actually wrote in my recap that night: "So basically, this guy just won, right? Like, do we even need to have an entire Season 11?") And four months later, I still haven't changed my prediction. Barring some major upset, Phillip Phillips will be the next American Idol. I suspect this will be a controversial result, but the man does have genuine talent, and he deserves a lot more credit than he's received this season. He's not just another "WGWG."Great Musical Moments In Reality TV: ‘So You Think You Can Dance At An Outdoor Rock Festival’
By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Mon, May 21, 2012 10:03 AM PDTMick Jagger took over "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend, and he was one of the best "SNL" hosts the show had had in a long, long time. And one of the most awesome skits of the night was "So You Think You Can Dance At An Outdoor Rock Festival," which featured Mick doing a better Steven Tyler than Steven Tyler himself, and Bill Hader doing a better impersonation of Dave Matthews than even Phillip Phillips!

By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Sun, May 20, 2012 2:54 PM PDT"American Idol" is in its final stretch, and while much of America is excited about this week's showdown between Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, I think there are a few other also-rans who really got robbed this season, contestants I would have at least liked to see get a shot at the finale. Season 11 was packed with talent, so much so that many awesome contestants--many of them, oddly, in the awesome Vegas group Groove Sauce!-- were sadly left on the sidelines this year.
Here are my picks for the 11 most-robbed contestants of "Idol" Season 11. Let's hope some of these singers get record deals anyway, or at least end up on "The Voice" or "The X Factor" in the future...
