photo: AP/Matt SaylesSorry, Christina Aguilera: I don't mean to sound catty, but we all know the real star of "The Voice" is Cee Lo Green's beautiful rented cat, Purrfect (the only verified cat on Twitter). So we all knew it was just a matter of time before Purrfect sank her claws into the music business herself. Today, the white Persian wonder dropped her new single, which is really an old familiar jingle: A remix of the resurrected Meow Mix theme song.

Season 1 "The Voice" winner Javier Colon recently swung through Los Angeles to perform his new single, "A Drop In The Ocean," on "The Voice's" semifinals results show--but not before swinging by Yahoo! Music with his six-string to play the pretty new ballad for Reality Rocks, along with two other original tunes, the Come Through For You album track "Runnin'" and the song that helped him win "The Voice" last year, "Stitch By Stitch."

"The Voice" is in its final stretch, and while much of America is excited about Season 2's finale, there are a few also-ran contestants that "Voice" fans probably would've liked to see get a shot at the prize. This season was positively packed with talent, so much so that many awesome contestants, who probably would've sailed through under different conditions (like if the show didn't have team quotas, or if the instant eliminations had never happened, or if the Battle Rounds had been decided by public vote, or if Adam Levine wasn't a jerk), were sadly left on the sidelines. Let's hope that some of these promising singers audition for "American Idol" Season 12--or maybe "The X Factor," or "Duets," or "AGT," etc.--in the future. I'd definitely like to see some of them on TV again.

Carrie performs on "Idol" [photo: Fox]Carrie Underwood is the most successful "American Idol" alum of all time, so you'd think that when she returned this week to perform on the show, after seven years and four hit albums, nerves wouldn't be an issue for her. But speaking to Yahoo!'s Reality Rocks backstage after guesting on "Idol's" top five results show, she readily admitted that whenever she's on "Idol," it feels like Season 4 all over again for her.

"It's always horrifying to come back, I'm not going to lie!" she laughed. "I perform all over the place, on television shows and in front of tens of thousands of people, but coming back here still strikes fear in my heart! I get so nervous! I guess it's just one of those Pavlov's-theory things; it just represents a scary time in my life."

Skylar says goodbye on "Idol" [photo: Fox]Thursday night on "American Idol," country-rocker Skylar Laine surprisingly went home in fifth place, ironically on a night when "Idol's" all-time biggest country superstar, Carrie Underwood, performed on the show. Skylar had actually garnered flattering comparisons to Carrie during her "Idol" run, and speaking to Yahoo!'s Reality Rocks backstage immediately after her elimination, Skylar revealed that she'd received words of encouragement from Carrie this week.

"I did get to talk to Carrie Underwood before the show," said Skylar. "She just said, 'Be yourself.' And she said the country community is already welcoming me with open arms. I'm just happy about that, because I want to be next to all those great people at the CMA Fest and the CMA Awards, and all those kinds of awards. That's my dream, to be there!"

Skylar and Hollie are in this week's bottom twoThis week was British Week on "American Idol," and maybe that gave Liverpool-born contestant Hollie Cavanagh some sort of small advantage. Hollie was in the bottom two on this Thursday's top five results show, for the umpteenth time, but in the end, she managed to scrape by yet again. Instead, shockingly, it was all-American girl Skylar Laine who quite undeservedly went home in fifth place.

Last night, "American Idol's" top five finalists sang the songs of Great Britain--and although some of their boring song choices weren't so great, their vocals were, for the most part. So it's going to be a tough results show tonight, and possibly a surprising one, since tonight might be the first time we'll see the seemingly unstoppable Phillip Phillips in the bottom two or three.
