Anna Chlumsky Gets a Double Shot of Good News: An Emmy Nom and a New Baby!

What's better than an Emmy nomination? How about becoming a mom?

Anna Chlumsky has experienced both life-changing events in the past few days. The 32-year-old actress not only received an Emmy nomination for her work on the HBO series "Veep," but she also gave birth to her first baby.

Chlumsky, who rose to fame as a child star in the 1991 movie "My Girl," told People today that she and her husband, Shaun So, welcomed daughter Penelope Joan So on July 11.

"She's a really good mix between my husband and me," the actress said. "When she's with him, you see him, and when she's with me, you see me. She's a perfect mix."

And just in time to add to the mix (and her new-baby bliss!), along comes the Emmy nod for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as VP Chief of Staff Amy Brookheimer.

"I'm still in shock," she told People. "When I got the call, I wasn't sleeping because I was breastfeeding my daughter. It was neat because it was me and my husband and my daughter all in the room getting the news at the same time. When [my manager] told me, it was that nervous, happy, appreciative laughter. I just laughed a lot! It feels really great to have your work noticed."

Chlumsky says she's just "smiley" all around, and we can certainly see why. Of course, with a new little girl in the "My Girl" star's life and a red-hot career, Chlumsky may want to start working on lining up a babysitter!

The new mom is up against Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory"), Julie Bowen ("Modern Family"), Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock"), Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"), and Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie") in the supporting actress category.

Of course, now that it's a girl for "My Girl," Chlumsky might want to start working on lining up a babysitter!

The 65th primetime Emmys airs on September 22 on CBS.
