Buzziest moments from the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards show has come and gone. We tuned in to catch the moments that made us sit up and take note. There were certainly plenty of those. Let's take a look.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus's speech stunt

"Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler was up for Lead Actress in a Comedy. But so was Julia Louis-Dreyfus, for the HBO show "Veep." Only one can win, but two can do a bit.

The "Veep" actress began reading her speech from the stage, obviously meant for Poehler. "I'd like to thank NBC, 'Parks and Rec,'" she started. Poehler then ran up and handed her the right speech. Louis-Dreyfus then delivered her actual speech, saying at one point, "This show is a comedy but there's nothing funny about me being vice president of the United States."

No joke, the "Seinfeld" alum ran out of time, and as she was being led off the stage she managed to get in, "Lastly, isn't it a shame that Amy Poehler didn't win. What?" Viewers then saw Poehler, who was brandishing a pencil, clearly sharp as her wit.

Jon Stewart takedown

There has to be some payback for "The Daily Show" winning Outstanding Variety Series for the tenth time in a row, right? At least that's what fellow nominees Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert must have believed. They wrestled the show host to the ground when he stood up for the honor, and then grabbed his legs to keep him from getting to the stage. The breathless host gasped his thanks, and then noted that someday aliens will come "and find a box of these, [and] they'll realize just how [bleeping] predictable these things are." The fight bit was a nice way to mix up award number ten, though.

Claire Danes gives a shout out

The "Homeland" star won for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. But she got attention for an odd shout-out to cast member Mandy Patinkin. She praised the actor, then added, "holla." The pregnant actress also thanked her husband and "baby daddy." But it was the term "holla" that caused a Twitter debate. Did it refer to holla, the '90s hip-hop greeting, or "challah," the egg bread eaten on the Jewish Sabbath? All we can say is, oy veh.

Kevin Costner rambles

It was the first time Oscar winner Kevin Costner had received an Emmy and, from his odd behavior on stage, maybe his last. The actor won for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for "Hatfields & McCoys." The star, who also produced the highly acclaimed miniseries, gave a speech looking casually dashing in a tuxedo without a tie and his shirt unbuttoned. He then pulled off lines like,"We had to go to Bulgaria to make this very American story" and "this trophy reminds me of the Olympics in London." Say what now? Still, no confusion about one thing: the 57-year-old looked as handsome as ever.

Seth MacFarlane's gaffe

Even the most scripted of shows can have glitches. "Family Guy"'s Seth MacFarlane delivered. The voice actor was on hand to present the Best Reality Show Host award…as a pantomime. "Oh," he said as he couldn't be heard. "The mic's over there!"

He quickly moved to the right microphone. Then, in baby Stewie's voice, joked, "This is what happens when you don't come to rehearsal." He then added, "That's going to be on YouTube." Before the words left his mouth, it already was.

Aaron Paul's kiss

If Giancarlo Esposito had any hard feelings about "Breaking Bad" co-star Aaron Paul snagging the best support actor award, the 54-year-old certainly didn't show it. The actor rushed to embrace Paul as he stood up to walk to the stage — wrapping the star in a bear hug and giving him a big kiss on the lips.

Paul returned the affection in his speech, saying to Esposito, "I am so honored to share this category with you."

Julianne Moore triumphs

The "Game Change" star won for best actress in a miniseries for channeling Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The actress, dressed in an electric yellow dress, said she felt validated by the win because "Sarah Palin gave me a big thumbs down." Palin appears to be in the minority. Moore also thanked the hair and makeup artists "who transformed me physically every day for two hours."

Tracy Morgan plays dead

Host Jimmy Kimmel decided to prank Twitter, and Tracy Morgan was in on the gag. He asked viewers to tweet out, "OMG, Tracy Morgan just passed out at the Emmys, go to ABC right now."

Twitter responded, helped along by tweets from Stephen Colbert and Rosie O'Donnell, causing some genuine buzz and perhaps some confused viewers who tuned in after seeing the messages on Twitter and Facebook, and maybe even led to a short-lived ratings boost as some people wanted to know what happened to the "Saturday Night Live" alum. The "30 Rock" star stayed on his back on stage, through a commercial break, and was finally hauled off.
