But dig a little deeper and there's a lot more there beneath the well-publicized outpost of snooty "Mad Men" apostles. Beyond the big dramatic nominations, the Emmy noms are stocked thick with good, traditional stories that play big in Red America. This year nominated alongside "Girls" and "Breaking Bad" are shows featuring real stories of working men, tales from the Book of Deuteronomy, and affectionate portraits small town hash-slingers.
While the "Duck Dynasty" may have tragically been snubbed, expect to see plenty of mullets and frosted goatees walking the red carpet alongside the exquisitely coiffed Hollywood luminaries.
Red state viewers should keep an eye on the Emmy's offshoot, their Creative Arts show, where many of the technical and reality categories are celebrated. There you can expect to see nominee Guy Fieri (“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”) holding court and The Bible producers standing as the affair's BMOCs.
