This week's "Person of Interest" (entitled "Lady Killer") was all about the ladies. Not only did the new female characters, Root and Shaw, get plenty of screen time, but Carter and Zoe Morgan got a good chunk as well.
Most fans were very happy to see all the ladies of "POI" working together. The gang's latest SSN belongs to Ian Murphy, an apparent sociopath who changes up his image whenever he's out with a new woman.
In fact, evidence found in Ian's home seems to indicate that he is a stalker and possibly even a serial killer.
Carter, Zoe, and Shaw team up for a night on the town, dressed in their sexiest outfits and packing their deadliest weapons. Of note is Zoe's pink Taser, given to her by Reese as a gift. Their goal is to land a date with the alleged lady killer.
Reese is concerned that Shaw's perpetually angry facial expressions won't get her very far, and he's correct. Ian walks right past her and on to Carter, where they chat for a bit before planning a date.
The ladies go undercover in a nightclub:
The date goes swimmingly, despite a slight hiccup where Shaw nearly shoots Ian from her rooftop position for standing in the wrong place with his cooking knife. After the date, everything turns around when two bad guys try to kill Ian as he says good night to Carter. Shaw and Carter shoot the two men before they can fire.
Carter's cover is blown, but that's OK; it's time to get real. The group questions Ian to figure out what's going on.
The girl Ian had been involved with was the first woman he had fallen in love with, and he had gotten her pregnant, but her father, Bruce Wellington, wanted an heir rather than Ian's brand of "white trash." Wellington sent lackeys to tell Ian that the baby had been aborted and to get out of town. When Wellington's daughter later died in a car crash, Ian showed his face at the funeral. Wellington decided that murdering him was better than him finding out that his son had not been aborted.
The gang confronts Ian:
After a quick detour wherein Ian kidnaps his son, Carter is able to get the proof that Ian's son is actually his so he can begin the process of getting him back legitimately.
Ian takes a minute to chat with his son:
In the meantime, Reese works with Zoe and Shaw to find more proof of Wellington's wrongdoings, then Reese punches him out.
Meanwhile, Root continues to tell her therapist about the 11-year-old female god that is the Machine. The Machine continues to tell Root what to do until the men from Special Counsel who had been trying to kill her finally find her at the facility. Root goes on with her "crazy talk," detailing her escape plan. The doc has no idea what he's in for until her plan is set in motion.
The Machine disallows Root from doing her favorite thing: killing lots of people. In fact, she doesn't kill anyone. That's a first!
Root goes wild, unloads her gun:
"Person of Interest" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
