Whoa, Whoa, It's Magic: Lifetime Transforms Gina Gershon Into Donatella Versace

The hours in the makeup chair were not for nothing. Gina Gershon is a white-hot ringer for Donatella Versace in this just-released photo, and we are more excited than ever for the Lifetime biopic, "House of Versace," about Gianni's (Enrico Conlantoni) super-nondramatic sister.

As you see, there's not a trace of "Showgirls" vamp Crystal Connors in this photo. Casting is everything in a biopic — think of Jewel excelling in "Ring of Fire" and Lindsay Lohan crumbling under pressure in "Liz & Dick." This time, the casting execs at Lifetime did very well.

If Gershon's performance is as good as her 1990s-gauche tight-face, tighter-dress appearance, then we are truly in for a treat.

Fun fact: The two fab femmes have never met, but Gershon told the New York Post that they have many friends in common.

Hmm. Maybe they'll meet at the flick's premiere? Hello, photo-op.

"House of Versace," which also stars Raquel Welch as Donatella's Aunt Lucia and Colm Feore as her brother Santo, is set to premiere Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
