Kris Allen Addresses Bullying in Inspiring “Vision Of Love” Video

Bullying is a hot topic right now, and Season 8 "American Idol" champion Kris Allen has already joined the cause, performing "Imagine" at a Trevor Project gala last December. And now he's addressing the issue in his new video for "The Vision Of Love," a poignant clip that really brings out the positive message of the soaring song's lyrics.

The video's sad but all-too-familiar storyline follows two troubled teens--an awkward boy who is bullied by his peers, and a shy, insecure girl who feels ostracized by the "popular girls"--as Kris sings lines like "Lonely needs a friend/Ask him where he's been/You could be the light that comes and turns his world around" and "I don't wanna run, I don't wanna hide/When someone needs somebody/I don't wanna say, I don't got the time...With a little faith and a little soul, we can't go wrong."

The video ends on a happy note, however, perfectly embodying "The Vision Of Love's" uplifting (and timely) message about reaching out to others with simple gestures of compassion. Good job, Kris. But did anyone kind of think--or hope--that the boy and the girl would get together at the end? Oh well, maybe that'll happen in the sequel...

Kris's third album (and second post-"Idol" effort), Thank You Camellia, comes out May 22.
