Jason Segel’s ‘SNL’ Appearance: What Did the ‘SNL’ Sketch Predictor Get Right?

Nailed it. (Hulu)Granted, the "SNL" Sketch Predictor is based on a combination of informed guesswork and pure imagination. But I will still get way too excited when I happen to be right about anything in the show. Below, a celebration of me and the things I accurately predicted — plus a couple of things I should have known to expect.

    What I Got Right!

    1. and 2. That host Jason Segel would talk about his upcoming movie, "The Muppets," in the monologue, and that Muppets would appear in the sketch, as themselves.

    3. and 4. That there would be a sketch about "Live" auditions to replace Regis Philbin, and that at some point during the show, Taran Killam would play Ashton Kutcher.

5., 6. and 7. That the show would address Newt Gingrich's lead in the polls relative to the other Republican Presidential hopefuls...

...Herman Cain's extremely long pause when asked to discuss his position on Libya, and the latest developments in the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protests.

    8. That Segel would appear in a sketch in drag.

What I Should Have Also Predicted!

    1. and 2. That the episode's proximity to Thanksgiving would mean there would be a Thanksgiving sketch about the Vogelcheks, and that Segel's "I Love You, Man" co-star Paul Rudd might make a surprise cameo.

    3. That Muppets would appear in multiple sketches.

    4. That Segel would do his Andre the Giant impression.

    Previously:

    - Emma Stone
    - Charlie Day
    - Anna Faris

None of your predictions were all that amazing nor were they surprising. Gee, pop culture things were on SNL...new movie starring the person who hosted was mentioned on SNL!!!! Really, if this surprised anyone, you aren't that bright. The muppets have already been on SNL recently anyway, why should it be anything but enhanced when someone from the movie is hosting SNL? Duhhhh...your predictions...GROUND!!!!!!!!!

The only funny thing was the Kemper Pedic commercial.

Maybe it was just me, but I didn't get the Blue Jean Committee skit AT ALL. I did like the muppets in the opening and I did like both the chess and the kemper-pedic skits.

Vogelchecks has been recycled over and over again....to satisfy some cast members homoerotice urges? Reminds one of Chandler when he started kissing every body to cover up his romantic kiss with Monica.

I have never enjoyed those kissing sketches..............there are never two chicks making out so why bother??

If Andre the Giant were still alive, you'd be afraid to laugh at him. And will you still laugh at him if I tell you that right now, he has the Devil in a hammerlock? Only because you don't believe me. But your time is coming . . . IN HELL!!!!!!

Enough with the man to man kisses! Most of us find that insulting! Who knows...maybe snl wants your young children to think it's ok to when two men kiss each other!!! I don't think that's what any parent want. What say you?

relax. bran muffin and decaf. chill. not a lot of thought behind this show.

What say me? I'm not trying to judge you on one comment, but I say you come off as a homophobe with no sense of humor. "Most of us find that insulting"?? No, very few of us find that "insulting", maybe a bit squirmy and awkward, with how gratuitous it was portrayed, but "insulting", no. And it IS ok for two men to kiss, thought we've at least reached that level of acceptance by now. Also, its a comedy sketch show, they make jokes and stuff.

It's comedy. If the audience laughs, you do it.
Besides, none of this is new. Men have been dressing like women on stage since ancient Greece, at least. Women weren't allowed on stage until after Shakespeare's time. Men played all the roles. If it called for a kiss, it called for a kiss. That's acting.

Seth Meyers has been one of the lead writers for 10 years. He was co-lead with Fey and now he's the head writer. Weak, any questions? Kemper Pedic was kinda funny though.

I predict that SNL won't be funny next week, either.
      • Joseph H 6 months ago
Next week will be a RE-RUN of one of the funniest eps of the year starring
Melissa McCarthy from "Mike and Molly." Next NEW EP will be on December 3rd
        hosted by Steve Buscemi.

If the Vogelchecks want to make out in a sketch just have females only!! Otherwise it is queer!! Just chicks!!! Also, have hot chicks at the host and hot chicks for the music act. Savvy!!

        well...ok.

See the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall or I Love You, Man. Both very good with Segel!!!

This weeks SNL was very disappointing; every attempt just fell short even the digital short only made me laugh once (and i am a 20 something who still laughs at fart jokes) It is such a pity when you have relatively funny hosts and the entire thing seems rushed and half as**d. They have too much talent on set to waste like this. I hope next week is better STEVE BUSCEMI!!! By the way Yahoo you should really ditch Tara Ariano, I have given her articles a chance and she is absolutely terrible, more so than some of your other "reporters" Is it just me or does every thing she writes come off as a lame post on face book??? I hope you’re not paying her more than minimum wage.

One of the unfunniest SNLs I've ever seen. Even Weekend Update wasn't funny. And the musical guest was awful. She was so bad we turned off the TV during her second performance.

Is it just me, or did SNL seem to go downhill after Phil Hartman died?

The Vogelcheks skit is old and, frankly, sickening. I turned to another station when it came on and did not return for the night.
