Jay Leno is Completely Right About This Messed-Up New Toilet Paper Commercial

Jay Leno got EDGY last night when he introduced the segment "What Planet Do These People Live On?" to spotlight a Cottonelle commercial campaign that makes no sense on so many levels. I think this is about as edgy and (heh) "alternative" as Jay Leno gets, actually, and, having seen the commercial before, I found myself actually laughing the laugh of recognition. But even in Jay's seeming 360-degree Cottonelle takedown, he forgot one important reason why this commercial is messed up, which I'll mention after the video:

Jay forgot to mention the commercial's entire premise! Don't most houses come with a thingy on the wall for the toilet paper? Or is Cottonelle saying that their respectful toilet paper cover is intended to protect the dignity of an extra, back-of-the-toilet roll? Maybe Jay can have the advertising geniuses behind this campaign on as guests and ask them the hard questions.

We apologize. An error has occurred. Please try again.

And why cover just the one roll and then sit the whole darn package right beside it?
      • DeeDee 6 months ago
And why is the package not opened?

LOL! Jay, you pointed out everything I have thought every time I have to see this stupid commercial! I used to buy Cottonelle before this, now I can't bring myself to do it, I look at it and laugh. It's such a joke!

If I stopped buying stuff because the company ran a stupid commercial, my house would be empty.

No, this is really a stupid commercial, it has no base at all, if anyone bought one of them things it would be for satire purposes only. Would win worse commercial of all time I think.

if you want to hide the roll, a good cabinet will do... dont need to buy anything else!

      Bring back Mr. Whipple.

That would be a feat in itself since he has passed. But I'm sure there is a look alike out there somewhere.

If you walk by my window and see me on the toilet, you will die from methane poisoning. (_;{D)

At least its better than those Charmin commercials with the bears #$%$ in the woods
      • D 6 months ago
Does a bear sh*t in the woods?? They do raid campsites and possibly they do take toilet paper .... never thought of that. Next time I'm hunting, I'll set out a few rolls of toilet paper and see what happens.

Jay brought back an amusing memory from when I was in college. I was passing by a dorm on my way to class when I looked at the building and saw this guy sitting in front of a window. He saw me too and I waved, thinking nothing of it until I nearly reached my building. Yep. He was on the toilet. I wonder now if the building has since installed textured glass to prevent anymore friendly acknowledgements from passers-by.

They should make an ad that shows "competitors" toilet paper in action versus theirs. Could they prove that theirs will stop the always dreaded finger though the toilet paper problem on even the biggest messes??

ROFL. I love it, "dreaded finger through the toilet paper". too true

This commercial shows just how dumb American companies believe the average American really is. It also shows how out of touch with reality they rally are when dealing with the American public.

yes but they have you thinking and talking about it. if one person out of fifty that see the commercial buy cottonelle they have made theyre money.

They might as well and show someone wiping...Truth in Advertising.

It took Jay Leno for someone to know this is messed up? Those of us sitting at home without a national television show to voice our opinions...already knew that.

All fluff ... the MOST impotant thing about TP is the direction of the roll ; Towards the outside!! ROFL

seems it worked. all you people are talking about it.

I personally like "Bathroom Butlers" - always the extra roll near when you need it.

The "respect the roll" part that was brought up by Leno, was the funniest part. How can you respect the roll when you have to use it disrespectfully?? LOL. The whole thing was Funny! Thanks Jay.
