Jon Gosselin Hits Ex-Wife Kate with Some Real Talk about Her Finances and Future

The real problem with the slow-motion car wreck that is The Gosselins (I feel like I can just use their surname as shorthand and you'll all know what I'm referring to, right? If not: They had too many kids, they hated each other, they got a reality show that documented their mutual hatred, they got divorced) is that each half of the couple was so unlikable that choosing sides between them was practically impossible. You know: She's a flinty harridan, but he's a greasy famewhore. They're both awful. But this week, Jon pulled ahead.

Here's how it went down. TLC's post-divorce Gosselin series, "Kate Plus 8," has been cancelled. Kate then gave an interview in which she described how "scary" her current financial situation is. Of course, she's not without skills: Before TLC approached her about starring in a reality show about her excessively large brood, she worked as a nurse. "After the show was cancelled I said, 'I'll go back to my old nursing job.' If nothing comes up, I'll do it." Uh, why does that sound like a threat?

Though Jon Gosselin has been keeping a lower profile lately, he emerged to comment on his ex-wife's remarks. Well, I say he commented. Really, he tore her a new one, and it was kind of awesome: "Reality TV is not a career. Get back to a normal life — a simple life. Provide for your family." (Actually, he could cc that statement to basically everyone who's gone from "The Real World" to "The Challenge," or from just about anywhere to "Dancing with the Stars." Hey, just like his ex-wife!)

Gosselin went on to say, "I go to work every day and provide for my family," and I thought, "I don't even know what Jon Gosselin does," and then I thought, "I guess that's the point, and good for him, FINALLY."

Here's Jon Gosselin laying down some truth bombs.
