Kohl’s Imaginatively Uses Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ in Their Black Friday Commercial

I suppose Kohl's has "won" the race, or bidding war, or whatever, to be the discount department store that gets to use Rebecca Black's famous-for-being-terrible song "Friday" in their Black Friday ad. So, way to go, Kohl's. You can pretend to make fun of the song all you want and joke about how it sticks in people's heads, but you still probably paid big bucks for it. I hope you're cool with being THAT discount department store. Even Sears is probably all like "You stay classy, Kohl's":

I can't believe Rebecca Black sold out her artistic integrity.

That's a very clever comment, Boops. Very funny. I doubt that too many people on here get it.

This song makes me think of the movie, "It". And when Pennywise says, "They all float down here!". The song makes you want to become Pennywise.

Anybody who is swayed by commercials to shop at or avoid a specific store is just silly. I base my decision on price, quality, and service. I don't care whether or not the commercial is annoying. That's why the mute button was created.

All this does is make me want to stay away from Kohl's.

MEOW!! what a completely #$%$ write up for a kinda cute and funny advert. Quite frankly, they have done the right thing... taken a catchy, although somewhat dorky song, and used it to their advantage. Good for them, slap in the mouth for you.

"Good for them, slap in the mouth for you."

I think I just found the quote of the day!

Marketing isn't about how stupid and illogical it is, but the result. This will probably catch on.

And by "imaginatively" you mean "forced it into a commercial" and by "song" you mean "pitch-corrected hogwash from a vanity music label."

The song is a parody which means Kohl’s paid nothing for it.

Good reason to avoid Kohls. Now if we could just get rid of that rancid blond woman on the Target commercials. She makes me hate Christmas.

Oh, lighten up! I love those Target commercials. They show how crazy some people get around the holidays. They are hilarious!
