Suggested Guests and Topics for Alec Baldwin’s New Podcast

Move over "Fresh Air" host Terry Gross, there's a new sexy-voiced and hopefully overly flirtatious interviewer in public radio (podcast) town: none other than the magnificent Alec Baldwin of "30 Rock"! WNYC announced today that Baldwin will begin interviewing celebrities on a bi-weekly podcast with the delightfully vague title "Here's the Thing," starting October 24:

From the press release:

"As someone who has been the subject of innumerable interviews, I wanted to conduct my own and do them the way I liked them: emphasizing the positive, the forward-looking."

Right on, even though if I know my Alec Baldwin, and I sure do (I own and have read his book about fatherhood rights!), that description also works as a dig against media people who still ask him about things in his life that happened a long time ago and are now worked out and completely irrelevant. Moving on! These are the slate of guests we have to look forward to in the first few episodes:

"The show will launch on Monday, October 24 and include interviews with KRIS KARDASHIAN JENNER about her family's life in the media spotlight/fishbowl. Other guests in the coming weeks include: political consultant ED ROLLINS, CHRIS ROCK discussing his Broadway debut, KATHLEEN TURNER reflecting on her life and diverse career, MICHAEL DOUGLAS at home to talk about his career, family, and recent bout with cancer, and ERICA JONG and daughter Molly debating the chasm between second and third wave feminists, among others."

Kris Kardashian Jenner? Huh, okay. Highbrow meets lowbrow! It can only be the greatest interview with a Kardashian ever! And it's cool that he's talking to celebrities about specific issues, rather than just "So you have some kind of product coming out that people can buy?" Here are a few people I would genuinely like to hear Alec Baldwin interview:

1. Amy Sedaris, about what it's like to be just the right amount of famous.

2. William Shatner, because everyone who listened to it would have our eardrums shattered!

3. Lindsay Lohan on whether she even has any kind of plan to ever get her sh*t together again. (That's "forward-looking," right?)

4. President Barack Obama on his favorite kinds of beer.

5. Anderson Cooper on Secrets.

6. Monica Lewinsky on how to "look forward" when the first line of your obituary is already written in stone.

7. Anthony Hopkins and David Mamet, in a special "The Edge" reunion episode. ("What one man can do another can do!")

8. Seriously: anyone. There is no person Alec Baldwin could interview that would make me not listen. (I think that actually explains the rationale behind Kris Kardashian Jenner, actually! Limitations inspire creativity!)
