‘SVU’ Episode ‘Double Strands’ in The ‘SVU’-o-Matic

It's not that "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is formulaic. It's that...uh...when a show's been on for this long, certain patterns start to emerge? Fine: It's formulaic. But that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. Here are the most basic facts you need to know about last night's episode.

Initial Crime: A ballerina is assaulted at knifepoint.

REAL Crime: An innocent man is framed for a string of rapes by the identical twin brother he never knew he had. Seriously: That is what happened in last night's episode.

Famous Guest Star Who Obviously Did It: Former "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight, who (obviously) plays both wrongly accused twin Gabriel, and guilty twin Brian.

Who on the SVU Team Is Taking It Personally? Rollins (Kelli Giddish) pursued a rapist with the same signature when she lived in Georgia; Amaro (Danny Pino) identifies with Gabriel after the seeming perp brings up his young son.

Egregious Breach of Procedure: Pretty sure real cops don't volunteer to bait traps intended to catch rapists, as Rollins does, but maybe I just need to watch HBO's "Sex Crimes Unit" again.

Verdict: The episode ends before trial, but not before a super-awkward family reunion.

Revelations about the Continuing Characters' Personal Lives That We Should Remember Going Forward: Apparently Rollins isn't above flirting with a perp to get him talking; Amaro disdains food trucks (even Wafels & Dinges!!!!! BLASPHEMY!).
