'The Strain' on FX: First Look at Guillermo del Toro's New Vampire Drama Series
The first photos from FX's new vampire outbreak drama "The Strain" are here, and we've got a few thoughts:
1. They're making an outbreak of vampirism look hauntingly real and totally possible. No garlic or silver or stakes to battle the bad guys — the CDC needs the full gasmask treatment to fight this one.
2. We'd forgotten what star Corey Stoll looked like with hair!
3. Do we really have to wait until July to see this on TV?
Take a look at these first two shots from the show:
Based on the novel trilogy of the same name by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the drama also boasts "Lost" alum Carlton Cuse as writer and producer. The network has ordered a 13-episode first season.
FX's official series description:
"The Strain" is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
