Alan Thicke Reality Show 'Unusually Thicke' Coming to TVGN

"Growing Pains" star Alan Thicke joins the ranks of '80s and '90s TV icons making a comeback with reality shows, but he's the only one with a show title this awesome. Wait for it... "Unusually Thicke" is coming to TVGN next month (premieres Wednesday, April 16 at 10 p.m.).

And while the title is tough to beat, the show's unofficial sales pitch is even better: "If 'Growing Pains' and the 'Kardashians' had a love child, it would look like 'Unusually Thicke,'" Thicke told Yahoo TV, adding: "With Justin Bieber and Rob Ford expanding the horizons of Canadian comedy, we go a step further with the reality of our amusing, challenging lives on 'Unusually Thicke.'" Well, we know he's got a sense of humor.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at the show's premiere episode featuring another '90s TV staple, "Full House" star Bob Saget. Yep, you read that right — Jason Seaver and Danny Tanner are pals. Sort of. Take a look:

"Always fun to see Bob Saget. Love Bob Saget. What the hell is he doing here?" Thicke says to the cameras.

Dubbed a "reality sitcom," "Unusually Thicke" will follow Thicke, his wife Tanya, and his 16-year-old son Carter. And before you ask, yes, his other Grammy-winning, headline-grabbing son, pop star Robin Thicke, will appear occasionally as well.

More of Alan's famous friends will be making cameos throughout the show's 14-episode first season, including "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider" star David Hasselhoff; NBA basketball legend Magic Johnson; NHL all-star Wayne Gretzky; political commentator, comedian, and "Real Time" host Bill Maher; and Saget's fellow "Full House" alum John Stamos.

"'Unusually Thicke' combines my two favorite things: family… and laughing at my family," Thicke said in the official press release for the show. "This series is my foray into the 'reality-ish' television world where viewers will meet the lovable, unpredictable, and often challenging people who live with the real Jason Seaver. We take our relatable real-life stories and blow them up to amuse and amaze, tossing in a handful of celebrity friends along the way. Please come aboard and enjoy the ride!"

But why now? This is what Thicke told Yahoo TV: "The media — and social media — scrutiny of an entertainer's life is so pervasive now, we thought it would be amusing and insightful to show how we find laughter in our reality."

"Alan's real-life persona is just as likable, engaging, and funny as the television characters he's played over the years, and we're excited to bring viewers an original reality sitcom featuring his real-life modern family," said Brad Schwartz, President, Entertainment and Media, TVGN. "This is Alan Thicke in the role of his life."

"Unusually Thicke" premieres Wednesday, April 16 at 10 p.m. on TVGN.
