'Biggest Loser' Shocker: Jillian Michaels Did a Bad, Bad Thing

The bad news: "The Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels broke the rules of the reality competition, costing her team a four-pound disadvantage during the weigh-in of Tuesday night's episode.

But there's an upside: The second part of the punishment for Jillian and her White Team was a do over on last week's competition results, meaning Bob Harper's Blue Team once again had the immunity earned in last week's competition, while the Red Team members will welcome back their teammate who was kicked off the show last week: Ruben Studdard.

"Before you all step on the scale, there is something important that needs to be addressed," host Alison Sweeney told the contestants before the weigh-in began. "Last week, Jillian broke the rules and gave caffeine supplements to each member of her team without [a] doctor's permission."

After the previous week's results were deemed invalid, Michaels was given the chance to make a statement, which did not include an apology.

"I stand by my opinion: a caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee," she said, sidestepping the actual breaking of the rule. "My only regret is that my team … they're the ones suffering the consequences of my professional opinion."

Studdard, who was eliminated last week after dropping 39 pounds while on the "Biggest Loser" ranch, is not the first ousted contestant in the show's history to return, but he is the first one to return via such a scandalous reason.

It's also unclear how he'll be reintroduced into the competition. A preview of next week's episode showed his teammates thrilled about his return, but earlier this week the "American Idol" season two champ revealed that he has continued to lose weight since leaving the show … 65 pounds, to be exact. He has shed a total of 104 pounds from his starting "BL" weight of 462, and was competing for the at-home $100,000 prize.

Watch a preview for next week's "Biggest Loser":

When he rejoins the contest next week, will all of his lost pounds count in the game? Or only the ones he lost while at the ranch? Studdard was also at the ranch for just four weeks; those weeks were filmed earlier this year, but it's unclear how long ago. How, or will, that time frame be addressed on the show?

Meanwhile, fans who want a sneak peek at the slimmer "Velvet Teddy Bear" can check out a tweeted photo of him and "The Cosby Show" and "Martin" star Carl Payne from Sunday's Soul Train Awards:

As for the biggest loser on Tuesday's episode, Blue Team member Matt Hooper lost 21 pounds, while Red Team's Rachel Frederickson lost an impressive 18 pounds, to drop her weight below 200 pounds to 198.

And leaving the ranch: White Team member Craig Arrigton, whose 14-pound loss put him below the dreaded red line.

"The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
