The 7 Blue-sual Suspects: 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Searches for That Blue Alien
Also, what happened to Nick Fury?
The meddling of Asgardian seductress Lorelai on this week's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." led to a few revelations: Agent Ward is in love with somebody on the Bus and it's not Agent May, May is informing on Agent Coulson to parties unknown, and Lady Sif gave a list of the possible alien species that could be in that tube Coulson found last week.
Here's a rundown of the seven names Sif listed, along with the Vegas odds that they're the species being tortured in the T.A.H.I.T.I. facility.
1. The Interdites are a species that have only ever shown up once in the Marvel comics and, aside from their blue skin and four toes, are pretty much nonentities. Odds — 1,000:1
2. The Pheragots are blue, but they have big ridges around their eyes and mouths. Odds — 800:1
3. The Levians are a race of people who drained their planet of resources and whose survivors are adrift on a ship out in space somewhere continuing their wasteful ways. Other than being a clumsy '70s parable about the dangers of ruining the environment, these guys aren't very interesting. Odds — 600:1
4. The Sarks are interesting in that one of their kind, Autolycus, was a frequent foe of Adam Warlock, who possessed one of the Infinity Gems.
The six Infinity Gems, combined with the Infinity Gauntlet (which was glimpsed briefly in the Asgardian vault in "Thor"), grant limitless power to the wearer. We've already seen two of the gems: the Tesseract from "Captain America: The First Avenger" and the Aether from "Thor: The Dark World." They will figure prominently in "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and an unknown number of movies after that as Marvel moves into Phase 3 of its cinematic plan.
That being said, there have been no plans — even rumored — of an Adam Warlock movie, so the blue guy probably isn't a Sark. Odds — 100:1

5. The Frost Giants are, well, giants. But Loki is part Frost Giant, so maybe? It definitely helps that they're something we've already seen in the Marvel cinematic universe. Odds — 20:1
The remaining two species are both likely candidates, as representatives of both will appear in "Guardians."
6. The Centaurians are a primitive tribal species that possess some rudimentary form of ESP. Yondu, the Centaurian, is an associate of Star-Lord (the character played by Chris Pratt in "Guardians"), but we don't know much more about them. Odds — 10:1
7. The Kree have a lot of history in the comic books that might easily make it into the movies. One of the biggest things is their rivalry with the Chitauri, which we discussed last week.
Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) are both Kree in "Guardians," and they're interesting because their species is much stronger and more resilient than humans. If you were to suck out an alien's guts and turn them into a healing serum, that's the species you'd probably want to start with.
And there's the funny habit the comic book version of the Kree has of cross-breeding with humans. It's all a bit messy — magic crystals genetically freezing their evolution and such — but it might be a clue as to why Skye didn't suffer any ill effects of the serum after they injected her with it. Odds — 2:1

Lastly, if the trailers for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" are to be believed, Nick Fury has been injured and is lying somewhere in a coma. That could explain why he isn't returning Coulson's calls. That could also explain the cryptic comments of Coulson's contact who said that Fury was off the grid. "You did something like that once too, remember? I never asked you. How was Tahiti?" Was he dropping a hint as to Fury's whereabouts? Is S.H.I.E.L.D. currently pumping him full of GH-325? Do you think Coulson or any of the other agents will make an appearance in "Winter Soldier"?
