Country music artist Chuck Wicks was born on June 20, 1979 in Smyrna, DE, where he was raised on a potato farm. He moved to Nashville, TN after leaving college to pursue a music career, which began when one of his songs, “Lead Me On,” was recorded by Steve Holy and released on his album Brand New Girlfriend (2006). Wicks soon attracted the attention of executives at RCA Records, who signed him to a recording contract in 2007. Also that year, he was a cast member on the short-lived reality series, “Nashville” (Fox, 2007), which followed a group of hopeful musicians trying to make it in Music City. The series was canceled after two episodes. Wicks then recorded and released his first single, “Stealing Cinderella,” a country ballad that peaked at No. 5 on the Hot Country Songs chart and became the biggest debut for any new country artist in 2007. The song was featured on Wicks’ debut album, Starting Now (2008), and was followed by two other popular singles, “All I Ever Wanted” and “Man of the House.” In 2009, Wicks was one of 13 contestants named for the eighth season of “Dancing With the Stars” (ABC, 2005- ) and, it was announced, would be partnered with his real life girlfriend, professional dancer Julianne Hough.
