A college sophomore's revelation to his parents that he is gay tears apart a "perfect" family, with mom shocked beyond belief and dad, recovering from a near-fatal stroke, devastated and betrayed. The 1975 novel by Laura Z. Hobson, best known for her "Gentleman's Agreement" of the '40s, was the source for this "message" movie filmed on location in Vancouver. It won an Emmy Award nomination for director Gilbert Cates.
