David Birney was the toast of the Dartmouth College drama program and worked extensively in theater before such TV series as "Bridget Loves Bernie" (CBS, 1972-73), "Serpico" (NBC, 1976-77) and "Glitter" (ABC, 1984) gave him a different profile.
