Cops TV Show - Cops Television Show - Yahoo! TV

Most cops seem to be acceptably professional and conscientious. That said, I am seeing more and more of them with the attitude that their ONLY job is to "go home safely" at the end of their shift.
Whatever happened to "protect and serve"? Don't they teach cops that protecting citizens and preserving order is their sworn duty? No one wants to get hurt, but the job requires the officers to take some risks in order to do the job. People in the military do it all the time. What makes a cop think that he or she exempt?
Las Vegas is the absolute worst. Those cops use excessive force first, and ask questions later (maybe). They seem to believe that EVERYONE they approach is a hardened felon who knows the cop jargon and is out to hurt them. Often several cops simultaneously yell conflicting instructions to a "suspect", then jump him for "resisting" while the poor sucker is trying to figure out what they really want him to do.
They never ask anyone if they have any physical disabilities before using force to cuff or control them. I have recent shoulder surgery which prevents me from rotating that shoulder enough to put my arm behind my back. I'd hate to think what would happen if I was unlucky enough to be stopped by one of those Las Vegas Gestapo troopers! They would likely tear up the surgical repair, and arrest me for the ever-popular "resisting arrest" simply because I could not physically put my hand behind my back!
There are more pet peeves, but I will finish with this one. I can't count the times that they have shown a cop trying to reason with a drunk or someone high on drugs. Even the most ignorant person should know that you can NOT successfully argue with, preach to, or reason with someone who is highly impaired. What do they teach these guys, anyway?
