David Hernandez

Born and raised in Glendale, AZ, David Hernandez began singing at age 6. He has performed at Urban Network Events, “Arizona Idol,” and in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade. He has been a member of the bands Tribét and Straight Up. Only a few weeks into his "American Idol" run, Hernandez – who was born on May 31, 1983 – was embroiled in the first big scandal of the season, when it was revealed he had danced at a gay Arizona strip club at one time. This news did not seem to harm Hernandez, as it was that week that he was also voted into the top 12.
