May-December Bromance

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

"Ellen": In between the Two Katie's (Gosselin and Couric), Ellen interviewed an amazing young actress named Gabourey Sidibe, who takes on the title role in the heart-wrenching new movie "Precious". And Gabby actually does have the gift of gab, delighting the crowd with tales of nailing her first-ever audition to get the part. She told everyone about meeting executive producers Tyler Perry and Her Oprah-ness, and "freaking out" at a London reporter who prematurely asked for her Oscar speech! However, she made the most of her first-ever talk show walk out, admitting that her awesome dance moves were planned in secret with her roommate weeks before she knew she'd be on "Ellen!" Gabourey, you were awesome today. Oh, and one quick note -- if you score a spot on "The View", make sure you do the Cabbage Patch. Barbara Walters LOVES the Cabbage Patch!

"GMA": Patrick Dempsey got paged to "GMA" today to talk about the new season of "Grey's Anatomy", but somehow McDreamy ended up McJuggling some pink McBowling Pins for a breast cancer awareness charity. Who knew he was so McTalented? Or McGenerous? Okay, okay, I'll McStop. I McPromise.

"Rachael Ray": Guest Dr. Logan Levkoff, author of "Third Base Ain't What It Used to Be" gave parents advice on how to talk to their kids about... "it." The main point was finding common ground with your kids, and making sure they were well equipped to make the right choices about... "you know."

"Regis and Kelly": Regis seemed to really be taken with "The Hills" star Brody Jenner, dubbing him 'America's Hottest New Bachelor.'  Poor Kelly could barely get a word in edgewise as Reeg kept mentioning how 'hot' Brody was and asking him about his love life. Three's a crowd, Kelly! I'm sensing a little May-December bro-mance in the making!

"The Early Show": "The Early Show" must have the most awesome graphics department EVER! Yesterday, I noticed how they named the lactose intolerant segment, ‘Don't Have A Cow'. Well, today it got even better. During a segment on how to cook gluten-free, they named it, ‘No Gluten? Darn Tootin!' Words just cannot describe how much I love these people.

"The Price is Right": Like every day, contestants on "TPIR" won TVs, cars, vacations and even a golf cart. But the lucky showcase winner won the tools everyone needs to NEVER STOP WATCHING TV! Included in the prize package was a big-screen LCD TV, a hot tub (complete with a built-in TV, DVD player and surround sound), a tour of CBS Television City, round-trip air travel to New York on Jet Blue (which features DirecTV in every seat), and tickets to "The Late Show with David Letterman!" TV everywhere, all the time! It is literally my dream come true.

"Today": A loyal "Today" show viewer actually made it onto the show after saving the life of stranger by using a new CPR technique that was featured on "Today"! If that wasn't cool enough, the CPR style that Matt Lauer demonstrated over a year ago instructs people to sing along to the tune of "Stayin' Alive," by the Bee Gees, to get the proper life-saving rhythm of chest compressions! So when he saw a jogger collapse, he sprang into action, started singing. This guy saved a life, and avoided a "Tragedy!"

"Martha": Martha is always on hand to help save you money by making something at home instead of buying it. One thing she isn't going to save you is time. Any costume that takes 20 steps and a commercial break is something I probably won't put forth the energy for, but it was awesome to hear her say she would "kill" her craft specialist if she got plaster on her new sweater. I guess Martha picked up some felonious tips from her days in the slammer!

"The View": The women of "The View" discussed the ‘hair raising' revelations in Andre Agassi's new book, including the fact he used to play in a toupee. Seriously? Could the flowing Billy Ray 'Achy Breaky' mullet have been a fake? I'm crushed! Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. There are some impressive hairpieces out there. Just look at Ellen in her Kate Gosselin wig. Flawless!
