"Today": The "Today" show's Star Wars-themed Halloween extravaganza was more than out-of-this-world - it was intergalactic! The costumes were amazing, but I think they must have taken a long time to get into, because the show was such a train wreck it's obvious there wasn't a dress rehearsal. People talking over people, a ‘Jedi Jeopardy' bit that had a ton of technical issues (not to mention nobody keeping score), and a break-dancing Ewok all left me saying, "Help me, Obi Wan!" I'm looking forward to "Episode Monday: A New Hope."
"Regis and Kelly": They were spoofing reality shows today and none hit closer to home than "The Rachel Zoe Project." The story was about a box of fabric that arrived with a dent in the corner. Obviously, this created much drama. Rachel had to eat toast because she was so upset, which only annoyed her styling associate, Taylor, because she was left to wonder if the dent in the box affected the fabric. The reason that this hit home was because I recently ordered a puppy online and it showed up in two boxes-needless to say one of them was dented. (Oh, come on, it's Halloween!)
"Martha": Martha welcomed Jimmy Fallon and he gave us a look into his childhood. He reminisced about how he always went as hobo for Halloween, until one year when he decided to dress like Gene Shalit. I once dressed up as a critic, too. But I modeled myself off of Jon Lovitz who played "The Critic" in that cartoon series. The resemblance was uncanny!
"The View": So Sherri has never been to a haunted house-that is, until now! She visited a haunted house with "Sherri" co-star Michael Boatman, and I think he is probably going to need to see the doctor after her terrified squeezes left him maimed. I never really understood what was so scary about haunted houses-it's just a bunch of people jumping out and screaming at you. If she thinks that is scary, then she wouldn't last five minutes in Kathy Griffin's house (I heard it smells like mothballs).
"Wendy Williams": Wendy dressed up as Dolly Parton and I'd really like to skewer her look, but just like in the show today...I'm not gonna go there!
"The Early Show": "The Early Show" had a costume contest and the big winner for the kids was a boy dressed up as a decapitated man serving his own head on a platter. It was pretty sweet except now I have a weird craving for BBQ.
"Bonnie Hunt": Today Bonnie threw an '80s Halloween party that was totally awesome. The set was rad and the costumes were a throwback to aspects of the '80s that even I forgot about. My fave was that Mrs. Garrett, Tootie, and Blair took a break from the Eastland School for young women to make an unexpected and overly masculine appearance. Pee-wee Herman managed to pump up the volume a bit while other loyal employees sported Crockett and Tubbs, Hall and Oates, and Cyndi Lauper costumes! This girl just wanted to have fun...and I did!
"Ellen": As she's been telling us all week, Ellen looooves Halloween, so it was no surprise when Miss D revealed she put some serious work into her "O Magazine" costume. Not only did she make an entire fake cover featuring Ellen and her Oprah-ness pushing each other on a tree swing, but she also decked her glossy self out in fake article teases, too! There was an article on "How to Stay Young" by Dakota Fanning, a flu season tell-all called "My Ah-Choo Moment," and a special Dr. Phil centerfold! (Good thing nobody tried to pull it out! Who could afford those therapy bills?)
"GMA":
Food network frosting-nista Sandra Lee scared up some low-cost homemade
Halloween treats, including black-and-white cupcake critters (my fave was the
cockroach cupcake, made of a chocolate-covered almond with black licorice
legs); tombstone treats (quick tip: use a snack cake for your coffin, a Nilla Wafer
for the headstone, and some crumbled Oreos for the dirt); and three-color,
candy-corn-shaped sugar cookies. They looked yummy, and it really made me
want actual candy corn. Hey, I think I see some! Is there a
five-second-rule about stuff you find in couch cushions?
