Ed takes the man who sold Mike and Nancy their puppy to court because he falsely told them it was a pure breed. Eli has business problems with the "pie lady." Ed and Carol's first try at intimacy goes horribly, but the two turn it around on their second attempt.
Ed's cousing shoots a documentary on him which details the moving in process and growing pains of Ed and Carol's relationship. Warren, infatuated with the camera, decides to punk Molly.

Ed takes on a college drop-out as a client who's being sued by his father for the money wasted on his education. Mike and Nancy try to decide on who would best take care of their daughter should the worst happen by setting up test scenarios with their unknowing friends.
Carol's former student invites Carol and Ed to New York City after he is impressed with her writing samples. Dr. Jerome asks Mike to play the bad cop with visiting granddaughter in order to learn if she has what it takes to be a doctor. Warren and Mark make a new friend.
Carol has to make a decision about the writing position offered to her in New York, weighing what effect this will have on Stuckeyville. Molly is torn between her current beau and a reckless new man in her life. Mike and Eli worry over what the loss of Ed would do to their lives.
Ed gets professional help in dealing with his conflicted emotions over his long distance relationship with Carol. Eli gets help with his feelings towards Jennifer from his physical therapist. Molly turns to Nancy for her love life helpline.
