9/11
February 13, 2009
9/11 was the original air date for the show. I remember Scott Backula commercial in his captains uniform. He explained that the show would be postponed. I think that all of the events of 9/11 had the largest part in the short life of the show. There was a large fan base but the network didn't want a serious program. The replaced it with Brittney spears and Kevin Fed's Chaotic. Great choice!

A little more human
December 13, 2008
It was easier to relate to the show than some of other Star Trek series. At first I thought I would have trouble accepting Scott Bakula from Quantum Leap as the captain but he nailed it from the word go. The storylines show struggling to evolve to the next level and seemed plausible as the future mankind with all of our flaws and strengths. It was clear this was the show intent right down the Captain Jonathan Archer having a beagle named Darwin. (The beagle was the name of ship Charles Darwin sailed on) The special effects were great and the story lines enjoyable. The reason it failed is because UPN did not support effectively gave it a death sentence by moving it to Friday night. This show had so much more to say than what condensed into the final episode. It was rumored that Sci-fi would take over production it never came to be.

Awesome

Great character developement without the need for fancy special effects. An excellent portrait of how space flight and technology advanced, slowly, for the Federation into what it was in the original series. I wish it was still being recorded.
