Abrams series "Fringe" is about a brilliant but not quite all there scientist who along with his highly intelligent but jaded son and a sharp female FBI agent seek out some of the weirder phenomena in the world, like telekinesis, regeneration and cloning. Speaking of things outside the realm of the ordinary, what would be stranger that having Keanu Reeves come out of a UFO? "Heroes" is the interweaving saga of a group of people who exhibit a bewildering range of freakish supernatural powers and how they interact with each other and the world. And there's definitely a comic-book vibe to the show, from its cliffhanger endings and special effects to the epic battles of good vs. evil. "Pushing Daisies" tells the story of Ned, a piemaker who has the weird ability to bring dead things back to life by touching them. "True Blood" is about mysterious synthetic-blood-swilling vampires who live amongst humans as a minority in the Deep South. If you like the buttoned down corporate world and quiet suburban desperation of Emmy-winner "Mad Men," then you should definitely check out "Revolutionary Road", (in theaters December 25) based on the famous book by Richard Yates. "Eli Stone," is a saga about a young lawyer accepting the weird George Michael-infused hallucinations from his inoperable brain aneurysm and then finding out he's a modern day prophet and is meant for a bigger purpose. If you in fact do like spiritual things and a deeper search for meaning, "Yes Man," (in theaters December 19) a tale about a guy who opens up and accepts every question, proposal, and invitation for a year, could resonate as well.
