After a "near-death experience," medical comedy "Scrubs" will indeed be kept alive by ABC for a ninth season. The series follows a group of interns-turned-residents at Sacred Heart Hospital as they deal with quirky colleagues, complicated love lives, and wacky patients. Though protagonist Dr. John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff) prepared to leave Sacred Heart — and love Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke) — to move closer to his son last season, word is Braff will be back…at least for a few episodes. But the series may also move from hospital to med-school classroom. Will viewers get to follow a whole new crop of interns as they get their feet wet in the wild world of medicine? Don't let the name fool you — "The Real Housewives of New York City" for the most part aren't actually housewives, but who cares about truth in advertising when there are lives of privilege to be envied and vicious catfights to be enjoyed? In Season 2, the reality show's producers added a sixth cast member, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, who wasn't a hit with her costars or the show's fans. Written by David Hudgins ("Friday Night Lights") and inspired by the book "The Reincarnationist," "Past Life" is a new drama about an unlikely pair of past-life detectives who investigate whether what's happening to you today is the result of who you were before. Dr. Kate McGinn isn't your typical psychologist. Confident, outspoken, and highly educated, she works at The Talmadge Center for Behavioral Health in NYC, a world-renowned institute dedicated to studying the science of the soul. After experiencing a past-life regression in her 20s, Kate became a believer in reincarnation. Using regression therapy and her natural gift for reading people, Kate helps solve the mysteries of her troubled clients who suffer from present-day problems caused by past-life traumas. Her partner, Price Whatley, is a different story. A former NYPD homicide detective, Price is a damaged soul who constantly battles grief and guilt over the accidental death of his wife. Price feels that Kate, though not certifiable, certainly operates on the fringes of science. It's a volatile relationship, but with Price's solid detective skills and Kate's penchant for outside-the-box thinking, together they make a formidable (if somewhat dysfunctional) team. Sharp-tongued celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay returns for a seventh season in this intense culinary competition, which pits ambitious chefs from all walks of life (from culinary students to caterers) against each other to compete for the job of a lifetime. While living together in Los Angeles, the contestants take on cooking challenges and work as teams to put on weekly dinner services in a makeshift "Hell's Kitchen" restaurant. Ramsay's temper tends to flare up during dinner service, and just about any time his prodigies don't live up to his standards, so get ready for plenty of bleeped-out shouting fits. Each week, another competitor is eliminated, until one is rewarded with a coveted chef's job at a fine-dining restaurant. No word yet on what the big prize will be this time around, but the previous season had an executive chef’s position at the swanky Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, up for grabs.
