    Frasier learns that an old friend from Boston has written a romance novel that includes an affair he had with his piano teacher when he was 17. Frasier is upset when his contribution is not acknowledged by the author and goes to see his former teacher.

    Frasier is upset with his father after learning that Eddie was never neutered and has impregnated the neighbor's dog. Frasier is determined to take Eddie to the vet for the procedure and, with the help of Niles and Martin, finds Eddie after he escapes from the doctor's office.

    Niles witnesses a birth and decides that he is ready to have a child with Maris. Frasier tells Niles that schools give teenagers a bag of flour for a week to simulate caring for a baby, so Niles does the same and ends up ruining the bag in a variety of ways. Frasier is embarrassed by a note he wrote on a get-well card for a co-worker and goes to the hospital to retrieve the card.

    Martin begins thinking about an unsolved case from his career: the "Weeping Lotus" prostitute murder. He decides to try and solve the case, and Frasier starts to look at the evidence. Frasier thinks the killer used a monkey and arranges the evidence so Martin can solve it himself. Martin solves the crime and makes fun of Frasier for thinking that a monkey was involved.

    Sam Malone comes to visit Frasier in Seattle and confesses to Frasier that he is nervous about marrying his fiance Sheila. Frasier, worried that Sam will find out that he slept with Sheila a few months prior, persuades Sheila to never tell Sam.
