Simply the best!
April 17, 2008
This show sets a new standard for anime targeted for a mature audience. the plots are intricate and well concieved and you must pay attention or you'll miss things and wonder how it all happend. If you don't like to think and you just want action, this show has it, and even though Section 9 is hardly ever beaten, their jobs are never easy. Episodes that don't relate to the overall theme of Kuze or the Laughing Man (depending on which season you're looking at) explore the meaning of humanity in an incrasingly mechanical world and are interesting in their own right to just about anyone who uses technology today.

This anime keeps your mind hopping, you have to pay attenion or your lost, you don't want to begin watching in the middle of an episode. Very creative, lot of thought went into story lines. Always look forward to new episodes.

One of the greatest animated shows today!
November 4, 2007
If you are still among the camp of individuals who thinks cartoons=Saturday mornings, its time to change your tune. Ghost in the Shell (or GitS, as its known to fans), is an animated adventure based on the much celebrated works of manga artist Shirow Masamune. Existing in a different timeline as the well-known movie by the same name, Stand Alone Complex (SAC) tells of the missions undertaken by Japanese Security Section Nine. Agents Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team mates, assisted by A.I. controlled minitanks, must solve various crimes in this futuristic world, all the while picking up clues that will lead them on their journey to find The Laughing Man, a terrorist super hacker, and the overall arching plot of this series.
This series is not for the weak minded, playing on the fact that its geared for a more intellectual audience, although it has enough action to keep others chomping at the bit for more. Since this was such a large project several different teams were assigned episodes to animate, wherein lies my only complaint. Some teams were equipped with more talented animators than others in my opinion. However, quality of character design will only be noticed if watching episodes back to back on DVD. All in all, well worth the time it takes to enjoy each episode. Don't let yourself miss this fantastic series!

under-appreciated

this is i think one of the best anime's ever to come out of japan. the characters are very charismatic, well written, and voiced superbly (usually a draw back for english dubs). this series only gets better in the second season. if you're a fan of all the shows now-a-days with plot twists in every episode, this is a must watch.
