Maya begins to further shirk her responsibilities as William's assistant when she learns that her agent has secured her a multi-book deal. After being fired, however, she learns that the publishing company has been bought and that her deal is being shelved, and William has already found a suitable replacement. Desperate, she soon finds herself working as Joan's assistant once more. Meanwhile, Lynn becomes a paparazzi journalist while Toni feels all alone in her panic over a perceived weight problem.
