Rumors are flying that Richard is stepping down as Chief of Seattle Grace, and many would-be successors begin jockeying for the position. Derek is angered when he discovers Preston was the Chief's first choice and then even more angered when he finds out that Meredith let the news slip to Mark. Bailey tries to get everyone to sign off on her proposal to open a free clinic. Touched by the story of a young girl whose cancer might have been treated if Seattle Grace had a free clinic, Izzie decides to donate her money and call it the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic. Alex tells Addison he's not interested in her so that things can stop being awkward and he can get in on some of her surgeries. George deals with his grief by having a lot of sex with Callie.
