Camille is irked with Spencer when she learns Chauncey once walked in on Spencer and Mona in their college days, but Mona's feelings for Spencer are rekindled. Meanwhile, Big Dee Dee has a strong dislike for the mold Dee Dee has made of her pregnant figure.
Dee Dee's cousin Barbara comes into town for Big Dee Dee's baby shower, and Dee Dee ends up putting her up. During this time, Dee Dee learns Big Dee Dee told Barbara some of the personal things she's said in confidence. Meanwhile, Spencer hopes to impress upon Camille's friends by having Adam and his friends make him over.
During the big Christmas dinner, Dee Dee's ex announces his engagement. Meanwhile, Phyllis is smitten with a mall Santa.
Mona goes out with Camille's charismatic best buddy, Roger, and falls for him, only to discover that he's secretly in love with Camille. Meanwhile, Big Dee Dee and Dee Dee try to sneak off to the doctor to learn the sex of Big Dee Dee's baby despite Charles' objections.

When the head of Delirious records starts laying off employees, Mona and Spencer try to strut their stuff for the boss to save their jobs. Meanwhile, Dee Dee tries to think of good names for her future sibling.
After Camille comes home from London, Spencer is rattled when she admits she's considering leaving him to move back there. Meanwhile, Mona meets an attractive music producer when Big Dee Dee looks to record a birth announcement at a music studio, and she worries that the cat Phyllis gave her is her way of telling her she doesn't expect to get a grandchild.
Mona tries to get a clingy Dee Dee and her mother off her back so she can be alone with Nick. Meanwhile, when Dee Dee's newly-slim friend Aurora's visit to town coincides with Spencer's new womanizing kick, the two end up in Las Vegas together and may have accidentally gotten hitched.
When Big Dee Dee goes into labor three weeks early, Dee Dee freaks out and turns to cool-headed Mona, who takes charge of the situation and handles everything from the hospital check-in to being there for the delivery, which ends up making Dee Dee feel unwanted. Meanwhile, the two try and track down Charles so he can make it in time for the birth.
As vice-president, Mona is forced by Kai to fire Adam, but later learns that Kai had mistaken Adam for another lackluster employee. Meanwhile, Big Dee Dee's plan to hire a hunky male nanny causes too many problems when she and Dee Dee become too enamored of the nanny.
Dee Dee decides to refute Mona's claim that she only goes out with well-to-do, well-kept men, and picks up a macho biker while they're out at a bar. Her whirlwind date goes south, however, when the man's alleged girlfriend shows up, angry, and demanding answers. Dee Dee competes with rival Stephanie for a summer law internship, but when Stephanie begins to use flattery and revealing outfits to try and land the gig, Dee Dee decides to sex up the outfits as well. Dee Dee gets hired, but the tactics used come with some negative consequences. Meanwhile, Spencer freaks out when a date with Kai becomes, in her mind, a committed relationship.
Mona and Dee Dee try to one-up one another in the mad scramble to get Mother's Day gifts. Dee Dee decides to get Phyllis a gift, so Mona gets Big Dee Dee a gift, but the day spirals out of hand when both parents soon find out these sweet gifts are really the result of the kids' manuevering.
Dee Dee is coaxed by Big Dee Dee and Mona to rekindle a romance with Clay, who bumps into her and swears he's gotten help for his foot fetish. Meanwhile, Spencer uses Phyllis' help when a jilted artist, who won't allow his music samples to be used, finds her attractive.
Dee Dee decides to occupy Mona's time so she won't think about her breakup with Nick, but Mona soon finds herself back in the arms of Spencer, although the two aren't sure if they should rekindle their old romance. Meanwhile, Spencer meets Phyllis' new boyfriend and determines that the man is actually his father.
Mona must deal with Nick's parents' bigoted attitudes about interracial couples when they come to town and she discovers their true feelings, but when he decides to propose and she decides to turn him down, Nick breaks up with her, leading Mona to find solace with Spencer. Meanwhile, Big Dee Dee has a hard time believing Phyllis is seeing a new man.
While attempting to help Mona get over her recent heartbreak, Dee Dee unintentionally drives her into Spencer s arms; Phyllis brings her new boyfriend (Louis Gossett Jr.) to a family dinner.
