My Favorite Show and I await a New Episode Weekly.
August 11, 2007
Or should I say I await a new episode weakly?....
I only say that because I got to see 2-3 episodes of the 2006 season because that is all PBS in the Boston area ran. Since I have basic cable, I am at the mercy of PBS running the series.
I was surprised as well as elated that the series started with what I think were new episodes for 2007, but it seems to be on sporadically now, and in doing a search to see when it was indeed on, it seems that they are showing some of the previous 2006 season at the same time. It is confusing....
:-(
Again, a wonderful show that brings history into the homes of many, involving items that have been in families for generations at times, and attempts to tie them into historic events. Gives a nice small town feel and also may encourage others to seek interesting artifacts in their own homes/collections that could turn out to be important to the events in U.S. History!

Interesting, educational, and original

This is one of the best shows on t.v. It offers fascinating historical backround on all sorts of antique stuff that people have found. It has a truely original format staffed with unique appraisers and historians who are fun to listen to. The world would be a better place with more shows like this and less of all the other crap.

My favorite summer show!

I find the detectives charming and their subjects interesting. The program should be a regular one all year. The way each item ties in with historical events and the process of authentification is not only educational, it's inspiring. There's a combination of showmanship and mystery that is very exciting to me. Since I don't get the Discovery or History channels--I can't afford to upgrade--and I have found their coverage to be scary and disaster prone, History Detectives is just right in tone for me.

I really enjoy this show

I too wish this show had a longer season, although it's clear that it can take a while to put it together, with all the travel and research time that goes into it. I look forward to new episodes.
But I agree, that theme song, which I think of as an ode to dry heaves , really bites, and doesn't serve the show well.

Please make it year round!
January 4, 2008
I so look forward to the time I see this show on our PBS station(s). Yes, many times, the episode is a repeat. But, I'll watch anyway because of the interesting historical facts, the personalities of your hosts/researchers and the respect they show for the individuals whose artifiacts or stories are placed in their hands to explore. The heck with "regular or cable" TV. Give me the History Dectives, anyday!
