Bill gets diagnosed with diabetes, due to his unwillingness to change his sugary eating habits. When Bill decides to use a wheelchair, he meets a rugby player named Thunder, who teaches him to be independent. However, Thunder becomes upset when he realizes Bill isn't really disabled.
A local paper plans to run a story about Strickland Propane illegally dumping old propane tanks into the river. Hank suggests the company go green, and when the ladies of Arlen hear of the eco-efforts made by the company, Dale decides to help out Strickland with their carbon off-sets to garner the attention of the girls. To impress the ladies, Dale organizes an earth benefit concert that goes wrong.
Hank and the guys fix up recently deceased Dotty Dwyer's house. However, after the job Dotty's nephew sells the house to Ted Wassonasong. Strickland Propane creates a MySpace page despite Hank's bad feelings. Mr. Strickland makes Donna responsible for the operation, but when she goes overboard and posts personal information, it creates tension amongst the employees.
Principal Moss and the rest of the middle school teachers must have students pass standardized tests or lose their jobs. Principal Moss has the "special needs" kids evaluated, and encourages them to throw the evaluations. Bobby is falsely identified as "special" and is put in a class where he does not have to do homework and doesn't have to take the tests, but Principal Moss' plan backfires.
Peggy wants to earn some money for a new TV, so she plays the stock market with Minh and Dale. The three decide to study an "average man" after they lose money on an investment. The group decides to use Bill as their guinea pig.
Bobby decides to become a member of the Order of the Straight Arrow, a boys' outdoor group, so Hank decides to get involved as well. But when Hank bumps heads with the Arrow master, it stirs up trouble with Peggy, who serves as the Welcome Wagon representative for the town.
When Peggy throws a baby shower for Luanne, Lucky invites his sister Myrna and her two children to the party. Peggy and Myrna bond when Peggy realizes Myrna is nothing like Lucky. She is a modern, clean-cut, no-nonsense mom who parents by-the-book, and leads Peggy to realize her parenting skills are old-fashioned. That is, until the two women butt heads over how Luanne will raise her baby.
Hank's boss is invited to the National Propane Gas Convention as the newest inductee into the Propane Hall of Fame. Buck asks Hank to accompany him and Hank accepts, though he quickly realizes he will mostly be babysitting Buck and keeping him out of trouble. Hank's job is made even more difficult when Buck meets his son Ray Roy at the convention and stays out late with him.
When Peggy and Hank's date night runs late, they forget to pick up Bobby at the mall. An angry Bobby uses his parents' guilt over the incident to pit them against one another in a fight for his affection. When Peggy and Hank stop giving him everything he wants and offer him more time with them instead, Bobby 'fesses up to what his devious strategy has been.
Hank and his buddies sulk as the anniversary of their big high school football championship loss approaches. With the winning team mocking them, Hank and the gang ask for a rematch. Bobby becomes quite the ladies' man when several girls in his class consider him as a potential date for the Homecoming dance. Bobby gets wined and dined but soon discovers he is being played for a fool.
