Okay, question for E!'s HR department: If Ryan Seacrest manages to give me a panic attack through his hosting duties on American Idol, can I file for workman's comp to receive a lifetime supply of therapy and/or paper sacks to hyper-ventalite into?

Jeeeeeeeeeezus.

That's all I can say after the shocking and gut-wrenching—and I'll admit, thoroughly enter-freaking-taining—twist from tonight's American Idol results process, during which Ryan led us all to believe that either David Cook or Jason Castro would be in the bottom three.

Well played, my friend. And well panic-promoting.

After dividing the contestants into two groups on stage—Kristy Lee Cook, David Cook and Brooke White on one side and Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson and Jason Castro on the other—Ryan asked Mr. Cook and Syesha to swap places, revealing Kristy, Booke and Syesha as tonight's bottom three and ultimately sending Kristy Lee Cook packing. (A bit expected in outcome, but still nerve-wracking in the process nonetheless!)

Regardless, tonight also proved that despite what kind of dirt David Awwwwrchuleta's father might possibly be slinging (along with the ancient stories of his BTS behavior on Star Search, I've been hearing more examples of his stage-dad, er,  passion), David A. demonstrated he is clearly a class act, refusing to choose which side of the stage he believed to be the  bottom three. (That kind of game is a like a round of Twister inside a splintery wood in a sauna: There are no winners.)

For the record: David A. and David C. still seem to me very much the front-runners, but Jason Castro could come outta nowhere and win this thing. (Right, Santa Claus?) Also, tonight's famous audience members included Kristy Swanson and her hubby and the infamous Borat producer (sans naked fat suit tonight, praise be to dress code).
