Episode Description

Jack is taking pills for a stomach-ache when a body washes up on shore at the beach with his throat slit. Faraday confirms that it is the doctor from the freighter. Alex, who has been captured by some soldiers, is instructed to turn off the island's fence. In the barracks, the phone rings with an alert that this has happened. Ben flash-forwards to the Sahara Desert, where he wakes up shaking and nauseous in a Dharma uniform. When approached by two men with guns, he quickly disarms them and steals their horse. Back in the barracks, Ben instructs everyone to barricade themselves in his house, but Sawyer insists on getting Claire first. While looking for her, machine gun fire breaks out and Claire's house explodes after being hit by a rocket launcher. Flash forward again, Ben is in Tunisia booking a hotel room when he sees Sayid on the news asking the press to leave him alone so he can just bury his wife. Back on the island, Sawyer finds Claire alive under the rubble and takes her to Ben's place. Miles arrives claiming that his shipmates want to talk to Ben. Flash to Iraq, where Ben is on a roof taking photos of a mysterious man and Sayid at Nadia's funeral. Sayid sees him and confronts him angrily. Ben tells Sayid that one of Widmore's men killed Nadia. Back in the barracks, Miles informs Ben that Alex is being held hostage. Ben picks up the walkie talkie and speaks to Keamy, who is standing outside with a gun to Alex's head. Keamy tries to get Ben to surrender. When Ben won't cooperate, Keamy shoots Alex in cold blood. Shocked and upset, Ben runs to a secret door in his house. Flash to Iraq, where Ben is chasing Nadia's killer. After catching up to him, Ben tells him he needs to get a message to Charles Widmore. Before he can tell him, Sayid shoots the man. Sayid tells Ben he wants to work for Ben and bring war against the people who killed Nadia. Ben agrees, and looks pleased. Back on the island, Ben comes out of his secret door and tells everyone it's time to run. Suddenly, the smoke monster appears in full force, killing the freighter soldiers. Back on the beach, Faraday sends a signal in Morse Code to the freighter asking what happened to the doctor. He claims that the response indicated that the helicopter is on its way, but Bernard, who knows Morse Code, tells everyone that the message actually said that the doctor is fine. Jack demands to know if rescue was ever part of the plan. Just as Faraday admits it wasn't, Jack doubles over in stomach pain. Outside the barracks, Locke is angry that Ben lied about his knowledge of the smoke monster. Ben says that Locke can talk to Jacob about it. Sawyer wants to take everyone else back to the beach, but Locke and Ben won't let Hurley go with him. They need Hurley to help them find Jacob and, after a Mexican standoff, Hurley agrees to go. In a flash, Ben is in London breaking into Charles Widmore's penthouse suite. Charles wonders if Ben has come to kill him, but Ben claims that he is unable to do that. He's there to confront Widmore about the murder of Alex and for changing the "rules." To get revenge, Ben says that he's going to kill Widmore's daughter, Penny. Widmore claims that the island is his and he intends to get it back, but Ben says that he has no chance of ever finding it.
