A FBI veteran agent, whose specialty was apprehending homicidal psychopaths by using his uncanny ability to enter the minds of criminals, has returned to his native Seattle fearing for his family's safety and struggling with his inner demons. Once there, he joins a mysterious underground task force which pursues those criminals who prey on society's deepest fears. He is forced to cope with the dichotomy of his seemingly idyllic suburban life and the horrors he confronts on his missions with the task force as the turn of the millennium approaches.
