Why This Will Work
September 4, 2007
Even if only for a few seasons this will work because there are too many Buffy and Angel fans, myself included, that have been clamoring for another vampire show. Any time you have a vampire show you run this risk of similarity, just like with every vampire movie or novel out there. It's par for the course.
It sounds to me like the show is going to be stripping away a lot of the mythology that previous shows have forged themselves with, Angel and Buffy included. Why not have a show that puts a modern twist on things instead of the usual 150+ year old doomed vampire. Why not your average every day guy who just happens to get a little fangy. Where Angel was steeped in magic and folklore I believe this show is going to have a nice modern edge. If anything I feel this show is going to run along the lines of Kindred: The Embraced if anyone actually still remembers a show that only ran for 8 episodes and was in no means close to high tech.
I also don't believe that this this will resemble Blade. For the young ones out there, Blade was based on a comic book hero and the tv show based horribly on the movies instead of the comic book.
I have high hopes for this show but even if it doesn't succeed and I fully believe that it will then it will live in my video library right alongside my copies of Kindred, Blade, Forever Knight, Angel, Buffy and Dark Shadows.

Friday night never looked so good...
October 23, 2007
MOONLIGHT is the best show I have ever seen. The actors are perfect. Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St. John is absolutely flawless and Sophia Myles as Beth Turner fits perfectly with it and him. The emotion that is poured into the acting is genius. The attention to detail is unlike anything I've ever seen. From the look in the character's eyes to the emotion that pulls at our heartstrings, this show keeps me hypnotized and begging for more. Throw in some action, romance, heart, humor, heat and ice and you've got yourself a show unlike any other in its genre.

We MUST keep this show on the air
November 2, 2007
People are inevitably comparing this show to Buffy/Angel since on the surface it looks so much like those two shows, but it is dealing with really different characters and concept. I agree with some of the other reviewers that we need an overarching story line to tie the episodes together more- sort of a "smoking man" plot line a la The X-Files, but who knows if that is coming. That's one reason I want to watch. I like the characters and I like their personal conflicts. It took a few episodes to establish those themes, so now I am hoping the future episodes develop the plot and the universe a little more. I also actually like that Beth's boyfriend is hanging around for a while because she did just meet Mick (more or less) and a real person doesn't change the status quo of their life that fast. Their chemistry is so great, that the love triangle is building nicely. The only time the show has stretched my disbelief too far was when the abandoned motel in the desert had a fully stocked ice machine and the guest actress highlighted how unbelievable that was by looking surprised she had found it, but what can you do? I'm still anxiously waiting for tonight's episode with the vampire drug- sounds like a great entree for an antagonist!

Looking forward to the next episode

I have to say that I love this show, it is different from other Vampire shows. Mick shows a vulnerability in his character, which is very appealing especially since he is a Vampire. He has gentleness that you do not normally see in this type of show, and the realtionship that is building between Beth and himself already has an intensity, that keeps you wanting to see what happens. The way the show ends every week, leaves you anticipating the next episode. I really think that this show has the potential to do well.
The actor who plays Mick has a more realistic appeal and his sexy good looks don't hurt either. Beth has a gentle type of beauty that I think fits the character well. This show is about more than just slaying the bad guys, its about a guy who wants to show the world that he has other facets of his personality that make you accept him for who and what he is.

Love It!!
October 17, 2007
I know I'm not the demographic they're shooting for (I'm a 50-year old mother of two grown men), but I'm not dead yet! I love the chemistry between Mick and Beth (my GOSH Mick is a cutie!), and I love the writing. They are treating an over-done topic with fresh eyes and a little wit and humor thrown in - I will continue to watch - my TOP new show!
