Please clean it up a bit!
September 12, 2008
I am a huge fan of Jason Lee. Ever since I saw Mall Rats in the theater, I snuck in, and have followed his career ever since, going faithfully to see every movie he has made. So you can imagine how excited, and swooning, I was when I found out he was in a new show called My Name Is Earl!
Seasons one, two, and three were fantastic! You couldn't have cast a more perfect group of actors! The writing was phenomenal, my friends and I laughed so hard during every episode we almost (well you know)! One doesn't find a show like this every day. I think that was the reason it did so well in the ratings. I don't watch much TV, but I NEVER miss Earl!
So I'll get to my point, the past seasons I could watch with my family. We own the DVDs and watch them over and over again. But, not this season. It seems this show is going the way of media trash. Too much sexual innuendo and mature themes that I will not let my family watch new episodes. I know it is for grown-ups, but many of the episodes were okay for my kids to watch. But now with season 4, instead of my older children and I watching it all together with friends, I am reduced to watching it alone, in case there is something my 8, 10, and 13 year olds shouldn't see or hear. And I won't let my 4 year old watch season 4 on DVD, we don't let her watch Earl on TV untill we have seen it.
The writers( or is it the producers?) have cheapened Earls innocence and charm, Randy's too! Joy was becoming half way human, Randy wasn't so sex driven and his crush on Catalina was so cute in the previous seasons! Jaime Pressly plays the hands down best drunk I have ever seen, but Joy isn't as funny as before! Ethan is a genius, loved him in Mall Rats too!
I could go on for days. But my plea is: please get back to the old style of writing. That is to say, clean it up a bit, my family misses Earl. I'm heart broken at the thought of not watching season 5, but I have to set high moral values for my family as well as my self. Sorry if i hurt any ones feelings, it still is a good show, seasons 1,2, and 3 were exceptional.
Remember karma is watching and will reward you for good writing!
Sincerely a true fan,
LJ
