'Scandal' tweetcap: Secrets, lies, and spies

Who isn't a mole on "Scandal"?

There's a mole in the White House -- and a mole in Olivia's life! Turns out Ballard is spying on Olivia on behalf of Fitz, which makes it a little less creepy. And as it turns out, the White House mole is, indeed, part of the president's inner circle.

Follow our tweetcap for all the scandalicious details:

At the White House, Fitz is still drinking. A lot. Mellie's up to her usual shenanigans, while Cyrus is trying to get back into the president's good graces.

Meanwhile, Fitz has a visitor: Captain Jake Ballard. He's watching Olivia on Fitz's say-so. "Olivia Pope is not what she seems," Fitz warns Jake. "She is not a good person."

The gladiators get a new client: Senator Peter Caldwell. His brother, Will, is running for governor of North Carolina -- but he's secretly gay. Olivia thinks he should just come out and they'll can handle it, but Will doesn't want to. Instead, he wants the gladiators to find him a fake wife. "We do that?" Quinn asks. Hell yes, the gladiators do whatever it takes.

But the various members of the team are dealing with personal issues. Huck's got a bad case of PTSD, and he's acting even weirder than usual:

Meanwhile, Abby is still pining for David Rosen. It doesn't mean anything, she tells him (yeah, right). He agrees (not).

David's in trouble though. He's now being followed -- is it the mole trying to get Wendy's flash drive back?

Over at the White House, Fitz faces a worsening hostage situation and is torn over what to do about it. Cyrus confides to Mellie that he needs to strike back aggressively, and she tells Fitz … but claims it's her idea.

Cyrus has a scheme (of course) to boot Mellie as Fitz's adviser. He approves her plan to have a conference call with the families of the hostages -- and then has a reporter listen in on it. The whole thing backfires, Fitz blames Mellie, and Cyrus is back to having the president's ear.

As for the mole, David's follower turns out to be Wendy's friend, who saw Wendy meeting with a man. And that man turns out to be CIA Director Osbourne!

On the Will Caldwell case, the gladiators are scrambling to find a fake wife before an important fundraiser. But Olivia finds out that Will isn't even gay! In fact, he's in love with his brother's wife. Oh, snap!

Olivia advises Will to just move on, but can she take her own advice? She decides to go on another date with Jake. But at the fundraiser, when Fitz asks his spy whether she's seeing anyone, Jake lies.

Oh, Olivia … you really can pick 'em.
