'The Jeffersons' vs. 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air': Vote for the Best TV Theme Songs

George Jefferson squares off with the Fresh Prince in Round 3 of Yahoo! TV's Theme Song Thunderdome.

With March Madness in full swing, we decided to do a TV-themed bracket of our own: a no-holds-barred tournament to determine the best TV theme song of all time. After lots of heated debate, we've selected and ranked 32 of the most memorable TV theme songs ever, pitting them against each other in a winner-takes-all bracket. Over the next few weeks, we're asking you to vote for your favorite theme songs until we get a winner -- and a few songs stuck in your heads.

(2) "The Jeffersons" ("Movin' On Up")

We can't wait to see how this one plays out: a blockbuster matchup of two tales of African-American upward mobility… and, of course, two all-time classic theme songs. Like the Fresh Prince, George and Weezy Jefferson traded in working-class digs for a life of luxury, and did so to the tune of "Movin' On Up," a joyous gospel number that captures the optimistic thrill of starting a new life. The Jeffersons have sailed through the tournament so far, tossing out "Mary Tyler Moore" on her hat by a 2-to-1 margin last round. But can they keep movin' on up?

(3) "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"

"Fresh Prince" is the most recent show still alive in the bracket, but it easily crowded out "Three's Company" in Round 2, thanks to a Will Smith rap about trading West Philly for Bel-Air that every child of the '90s can recite by heart. These two shows share a lot of DNA (the Jeffersons even bought the Banks mansion in the "Fresh Prince" finale!), so it's tough to choose between them. But in a battle of old school vs. new school, old school wins every time. We're expecting George Jefferson to out-dance Carlton Banks on his way to the Final Four.
